GECO’s new workplace represents an evolution of its established work culture, translating the organization’s engineering expertise and operational character into a contemporary environment built around connection, efficiency, and adaptability. As an MEP and engineering solutions provider with a legacy rooted in technical excellence and complex project delivery, GECO’s workplace was envisioned as a reflection of its precision-driven approach and collaborative way of working.
The primary design challenge was accommodating a high-density workforce within a constrained floorplate while integrating a diverse range of spaces for focused work, collaboration, meetings, and social interaction. The planning strategy prioritizes operational efficiency while creating a more connected and flexible workplace, allowing each department to maintain its functional identity while benefiting from improved cross-organizational interaction.
The workspace is organized through a hierarchy of enclosed, semi-open, and social environments that support different modes of working. Semi-open offices maintain the privacy required for day-to-day operations while improving visual connectivity between teams. Meeting rooms of varying scales, integrated touchdown spaces, and informal seating areas are distributed throughout the floorplate to encourage both planned collaboration and spontaneous interactions. The pantry is reimagined as a breakout space, incorporating stepped seating that supports informal meetings, team gatherings, and everyday social exchange.
The material palette reflects GECO’s engineering-driven identity, expressing technical precision through an honest and refined architectural language. Exposed brick, concrete-inspired finishes, black steel detailing, and open ceilings with visible building services celebrate the technical nature of the organization while creating a distinctive workplace character. Walnut wood elements are introduced to soften the robust material framework, adding warmth and tactility across joinery, wall paneling, and communal spaces. Integrated greenery and layered lighting further balance the technical palette, creating an environment that feels both authentic and welcoming.
The result is a workplace that transforms GECO’s engineering expertise into a contemporary employee experience. Rooted in technical authenticity and shaped around collaboration, flexibility, and human interaction, the design reflects the organization’s identity while supporting the evolving needs of its people.
